Description

A delicious twist on a classic grilled cheese sandwich, made in a waffle iron for a crispy, cheesy treat!


Ingredients

  • 4 slices bread (We used Texas toast, any sandwich bread works)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 2 slices American cheese (or cheddar slices)
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded or sliced thin)

Instructions

  1. Preheat waffle iron.
  2. Spread butter onto one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Top plain side of bread with a slice of American cheese and mozzarella.
  4. Add top slice of bread – butter side out.
  5. Place in waffle iron and press down (use a pot holder or towel to avoid burning your hands).
  6. Cook until bread is toasted and cheese is melted.
  7. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
  8. Serve immediately.
