Ingredients

- 2 lbs starchy potatoes (Russets or Yukon Golds), peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter (for greasing)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper; whisk until blended.
- Layer half of the potato slices in the baking dish, pour half of the cream mixture over them, and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
- Repeat with remaining potatoes and cream mixture; top with more cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake uncovered for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
- For a crispier top, you can broil the dish for a few minutes after baking.
- Feel free to add herbs like thyme or rosemary for extra flavor.
