Description
Delicious donut sandwich filled with creamy vanilla and coated with cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (for filling)
- Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
- Prepare the Donuts: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a smooth batter forms.
- Fry the Donuts: Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Use a donut cutter to cut out donut shapes from the dough. Carefully place donuts in the hot oil, frying each side for about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Cinnamon Sugar Coating: Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a bowl. While donuts are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
- Prepare the Vanilla Cream Filling: In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Transfer the cream to a piping bag with a round tip.
- Assemble the Donut Sandwiches: Once the donuts are cool, slice them in half horizontally. Pipe a generous amount of vanilla cream filling onto the bottom half of each donut. Top with the other half to form a sandwich.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature to avoid greasy donuts.
- To make filled donuts, you can also inject the cream into whole donuts instead of slicing them.
- For more flavor, consider adding a pinch of nutmeg to the donut batter.
- Store filled donuts in the refrigerator if not serving immediately. Allow to return to room temperature before serving.
