Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
-
Preparation of Meatballs:
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, milk, egg, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
- Shape the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
-
Cooking the Meatballs:
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until all sides are browned. Remove and set aside.
-
Cream Sauce:
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat and add butter. Once melted, stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer until thickened.
- Stir in heavy cream and shredded Swiss cheese until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
-
Combine and Simmer:
- Return the meatballs to the skillet and coat them with the cheese sauce.
- Cover and simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
-
Serving:
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg to the meatball mixture.
- If the sauce is too thick, add a little more broth or cream to reach the desired consistency.
- Serve over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or rice for a complete meal.
