Description

Deliciously sweet and crunchy candied walnuts, perfect for snacks or toppings.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound walnut halves
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar (lightly packed)
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg whites (discard egg yolk or reserve for another recipe)
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F. Line an extra-large sheet pan (or 2 smaller sheet pans) with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat and set aside.
  2. In a very large bowl, whisk egg whites, vanilla, and water until frothy. Toss walnuts in egg white mixture until well coated.
  3. Add granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt to the egg and walnut mixture. Stir gently to coat all walnuts until well covered.
  4. Spread coated walnuts in a single layer across a baking sheet. Make sure nuts are not overlapping.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour, flipping and stirring walnuts every 15 minutes.
  6. Allow walnuts to stand for 30–60 minutes to fully cool and solidify.
