Description

A delicious and easy recipe for savory soy curls cooked with BBQ sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup water
  • ¼ cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Better than Bouillon vegetable base
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dehydrated soy curls
  • olive oil to drizzle

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a kettle or on the stove.
  2. Add the BBQ sauce, vegetable bouillon, hot sauce, pinch of salt, and freshly ground black pepper to a heat safe bowl or sauce pot.
  3. Pour the boiling water into the bowl, whisking to combine.
  4. Sprinkle in the soy curls, stirring to coat in the liquid.
  5. Cover with a plate or lid to trap the steam.
  6. Let sit for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove the lid and check that the soy curls have fully rehydrated; they should be squishy.
  8. Heat a skillet over medium heat and drizzle with olive oil.
  9. Once hot, add the soy curls and any liquid in the skillet.
  10. Pan-fry over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the liquids evaporate completely.
  11. The soy curls are ready when golden and even blackened in places, about 10 minutes.
  12. Serve drizzled with additional BBQ sauce, if desired. Enjoy!
