Description

A delicious apple tart made with a mix of sweet and tart apples for a perfect balance of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 56 medium medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 sheet pie crust
  • 1 egg for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss until the apples are well coated.
  3. Roll out the pie crust to about 12 inches in diameter and transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Spoon the apple mixture into the center of the pie crust, leaving a 1 inch border around the edges.
  5. Fold the edges of the crust over the apples to create pleats.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the crust. If using butter, dot small pieces over the exposed apples.
  7. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
  8. Let the tart cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • A mix of sweet and tart apples is recommended for depth of flavor.
  • Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor.
  • Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
  • Optional butter adds a richer flavor to the tart.
