Ingredients
Scale
- 5–6 medium medium apples, peeled and sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 sheet pie crust
- 1 egg for egg wash
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Toss until the apples are well coated.
- Roll out the pie crust to about 12 inches in diameter and transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Spoon the apple mixture into the center of the pie crust, leaving a 1 inch border around the edges.
- Fold the edges of the crust over the apples to create pleats.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the crust. If using butter, dot small pieces over the exposed apples.
- Bake the tart in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Let the tart cool for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
- A mix of sweet and tart apples is recommended for depth of flavor.
- Use freshly squeezed lemon juice for best flavor.
- Adjust sugar based on apple sweetness.
