- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 10 ounces cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 ounces rotini or elbow pasta
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons chopped green onions (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked.
- Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef; cook until onions are soft and fragrant.
- Stir in tomato sauce, cream of mushroom soup, and sour cream. Mix until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper, then let the mixture simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
- While the beef simmers, cook the pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain well.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the pasta with the beef mixture. Stir gently to coat.
- Transfer everything to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions, if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
- Make sure to drain the pasta well to avoid a watery dish.
